"A holistic approach to health considers not just the physical body but also the emotional, mental, and social aspects of our lives." - Dr. Andrew Weil
These Hot Honey Chicken Tenders only require a few ingredients from your kitchen and hardly take anytime at all to make! If you're looking for a new delicious lunch item for when you're on the go or craving something both salty and sweet.
These are FANTASTIC!
For the Chicken:
2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced into strips
For the Egg Wash:
1 large egg
Splash of water
For the Cornflake Breading:
2 cups crushed cornflake cereal
1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
For the Hot Honey Sauce:
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup honey
3 – 4 Tbsp hot sauce (your favorite brand)
1. Prepare: Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
2. Prepare the Breading: In a shallow dish, mix together the crushed cornflake cereal, kosher salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, dried thyme, onion powder, and garlic powder. This flavorful blend will give your chicken tenders that irresistible crunch and depth of flavor.
3. Dip and Coat: In another shallow dish, whisk together the egg and a splash of water to create the egg wash. Dip each chicken tender into the egg wash, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it evenly in the cornflake breading mixture. Place the breaded tenders on the prepared baking sheet.
4. Bake to Perfection: Spray the basket of the air fryer with cooking spray (I like to use an avocado oil spray), then place about 4-5 chicken tenders into the basket (or however many can fit in your air fryer basket). Leave a little space in between each tender, to make sure the hot air can really circulate.
Spray the tenders with a little more oil spray. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until cooked through. Chicken tenders should be golden brown. The cornflake breading will become wonderfully crispy, providing the perfect texture for each bite.
5. Prepare the Hot Honey Sauce: While the chicken is baking, melt the unsalted butter, honey and hot sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat. Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes until it thickens slightly, then remove it from the heat.
6. Drizzle and Serve: Once the chicken tenders are done baking, transfer them to parchment paper. Drizzle the hot honey sauce generously over the tenders, ensuring that each one is coated in the sweet and spicy goodness.
7. Enjoy! Serve your hot honey chicken tenders immediately, alongside your favorite sides. Get ready to indulge in a flavor-packed feast that will have everyone coming back for seconds!
Whether you're on the go and need a quick protein packed lunch or entertaining guests on the weekend, these Hot Honey Chicken Tenders are guaranteed to impress. With their crispy exterior, juicy interior, and irresistible sweet and spicy sauce, they're a winning combination that's simply irresistible. So why wait? Gather your ingredients and get ready to savor every delicious bite!
